If adding more greens to your meals is something you’re aiming for, creating a vibrant garden salad with fresh vegetables and a simple, tasty dressing is a great way to start.
Once the warm weather hits, eating salad just gets easier and easier.
The vegetables at the Farmer’s Market are colorful and abundant, and even the grocery store produce tastes better. Do you grow a garden? If you do, I’m jealous! Those veggies are the ultimate.
Pair your summer bounty with my delicious homemade ranch dressing or your favorite store-bought variety!

When I lived in Wisconsin, I had a vegetable garden in the backyard. It was absolutely my pride and joy as well as a major source of entertainment (when the mosquitos weren’t too bad, anyway).
I grew everything I possibly could in that garden (I’m leaning towards calling it a Vegetable Patch because that sounds cozier and I’m feeling quite nostalgic about it).

Lettuce, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, all possible varieties of tomatoes, peas, green beans, cucumbers (regular and pickling), carrots, radishes, zucchini, pumpkins, gourds, melons (water and cantaloupe), and several herbs.
If my local home and garden center sold it, I bought it. And planted it.

Once the Vegetable Patch started producing, I would gather my basket and begin my harvest. Those salads were the best. Cucumbers never taste as good as the ones you grow yourself, and the whole experience felt like having a produce department in my backyard.

If you’re up for making your own Ranch Dressing, my favorite recipe is right here. It’s the best! Buttermilk, mayo, sour cream, red onion and lots of fresh herbs.
