Homemade Cajun seasoning is a delicious and adaptable mix crafted from everyday spices you probably already have, making it perfect for adding flavor to meats, pasta, and vegetables.
One of the easiest ways to refresh your daily dinner menu is by thoughtfully incorporating various spices and spice blends.

There are plenty of pre-made blends to buy at the store, but making your own is as easy to shaking up the contents of your spice cabinet in a jar.
Before you go rogue on spice blending, though, I’d love to recommend my easy and flavorful Homemade Cajun Seasoning recipe. It’s made from common, ordinary spices that you probably already have on hand. It’s extremely versatile, too, and a key component in the Cajun Chicken Alfredo.

This Cajun spice blend is great on grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or anywhere you have rich and creamy ingredients (alfredo sauce, cream cheese dip). It’s spicy without being too hot (you can always adjust the amount of cayenne pepper) and full of flavor.
But nothing crazy! No Chinese Five Spice Powder, no allspice, no juniper berries, no fennel seeds. Just ordinary spices like garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and paprika, and Italian seasoning (make your own Italian seasoning if you want!)
Make a batch and keep it on hand at room temperature for at least 6 months. Or however long you keep your spices around… which might be 10 years if you’re certain family members of mine who shall remain nameless!
