Method
- Start by preheating your air fryer to 380°F. While it heats, peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into sticks that are an even ¼-inch thick. Use a large mixing bowl to combine the potato sticks with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- To achieve maximum crispiness, cook the potatoes in 2 or 3 batches. Overcrowding the basket will prevent them from crisping properly. Air fry the first batch for approximately 12 minutes, pausing halfway through to turn the sticks. Because air fryer models can vary, keep an eye on them during the final minutes. Serve the fries hot with your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
- My Top Tip: Preheating is critical. Even if your air fryer manual suggests it’s unnecessary, preheating guarantees the cooking process begins immediately at the correct temperature, leading to better results.
- Storage: Place leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate; they will stay fresh for 3 to 4 days. To reheat, use the air fryer at 360°F for 1–2 minutes or warm them in an oven. A microwave will work, but it will soften the texture and the potatoes will lose their crispiness.
