Hey there! I’m Lee Harsh, an undergraduate student studying nutrition with plans of becoming a Registered Dietician. This blog is where I express my growing passion for cooking wholesome meals and baking up feel good treats. My overall goal is simply to inspire others and fill your home with good food!
I love nothing more than spending hours in the kitchen, playing around with ingredients and reaping in the satisfaction of a homemade meal. The best part is getting to share that piece of myself with loved ones. In my mind, food is what brings people together and is something to be cherished, not restricted or damaging to your body.
Over the years I have traveled through Europe twice, and it was there I fell in love with the authenticity of fresh healthy meals that are good for the body and the soul. Then, somewhere along the lines I became head-over-heels obsessed in love with food, wine and traveling the world.
I have a deep appreciation for homemade bread, rich chocolate and a relaxing over a glass of zinfandel. My world revolves around getting lost in cookbooks, daydreaming of recipes and researching the next best brunch café. Over the years I found my place in the kitchen. This therapeutic sense of nostalgia comes over me as simple ingredients turn into something beautiful. My mind is at peace as my hands knead through dough and the scent of banana bread takes over my apartment.
This blog has become so much more than just a food blog, and as it continues to grow, my love for food continues to steal my heart.
My Food Philosophy
I’m a firm believer in focusing on the foods we should be eating versus the foods we shouldn’t be. I don’t follow a specific diet or eliminate certain food groups. The quality of food is much more important to me than counting the amount of calories, carbs and fats I’m consuming. I’ll take a fresh slice of mozzarella cheese or cup of homemade gelato over a packaged “low fat” low carb” “calorie free” meal filled with unheard of ingredients any day.
When I’m not making a mess in the kitchen or studying my brains out during finals week, I’m most likely spending endless hours at the farmers market, burying my nose in a book, watching the latest Mark Wahlberg movie, busting out to 90s music at the gym or embarking on travel adventures and as many Dodger games as I can!
On The Nutritious Kitchen you will find a wide range of approachable recipes from healthy meals to indulgent desserts. I’m just a girl who likes to balance out her vegetables with chocolate ☺
