Now that Labor Day has come and gone it’s basically pumpkin season, right? I’m sad to say good-bye to summer, but super excited to welcome fall. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love seeing the colors of the leaves change, which is something I never experienced living in Southern California. That’s one of the many reasons living in the East Coast makes autumn beautiful. I know it’s not officially fall, but it’s just around the corner, so it begins…pumpkin EVERYTHING!
I love pumpkin and I love finding ways to incorporate it in different foods. One of my favorite and easiest ways to incorporate pumpkin is in protein smoothies and lately I’ve been making this Pumpkin Protein Smoothie that is not only quick to make, healthy, but also pretty tasty.

I personally don’t like my smoothies super sweet, so I opt out on the extra sweetener. The vanilla Greek yogurt and whey protein sweetens this smoothie just right, for me at least. But, I you like a little extra sweetness add a couple of natural sweetner packets and that will do. I did try this smoothie with vanilla ice cream instead of the Greek yogurt and it was a wonderful treat, BUT if you want to keep it healthy, Greek yogurt it is. To add extra oomph to this pumpkin protein smoothie, I added dark chocolate shavings on top, because chocolate + pumpkin = an awesome combo.
